Last week I stayed at Hostel Ruthensteiner during a city trip to Vienna. Hostel Ruthensteiner was refreshingly personal, cosy and fun. While brainstorming about an article on the hostel, me and my friends decided to list the positives and negatives. However, we ended up with a long list of positives. Therefore, just 17 reasons why Hostel Ruthensteiner in Vienna rocks!

#1  Warm homemade apple punch or gluhwein in the winter (loved this) or a cocktail in the summer.

#2  Handmade large wooden chess game in the garden and board games in the common room.

#3  Most nights spontaneous music sessions with fellow travelers.

#4  Simple, affordable and delicious breakfast with freshly baked rolls, tea and yoghurt.

#5  A large selection of books for all you book lovers out there!

#6  A ‘free stuff’ basket with actual stuff in it for those traveling on a budget.

#7  The hostel is as clean and tidy as it can get. I would eat of the floor without hesitation (if needed for some bizarre reason).

#8  Comfortable beds with soft blankets. Don’t forget to set your alarm!

#9  Hostel Ruthensteiner understands the basic needs of a backpacker and has facilities such as reading lights, hot showers, lockers, hair-drye luggage storage, excellent wi-fi, 24-hour reception and a large kitchen.

#10  Small paper notes available with directions to all main sights.

#11  The hostel breaths art and music.

#14  Diverse hostel crowd with people from all over the world and from all ages.

#15  A beautiful big garden perfect for summer barbecue sessions!

About BoB’s stay

Period: December 2014
Duration: 4 nights
Type of travel company: With 2 friends

Hostel Ruthensteiner is an ideal base for laid-back small groups and solo travelers, but we wouldn’t recommend the hostel to folks looking for a wild party. For us, Hostel Ruthensteiner was however perfect, and we loved the traditional backpacker atmosphere. It had loads of character and we would recommended it to all future Vienna visitors.

Bunch of Backpackers was welcomed to Hostel Ruthensteiner in Vienna as a guest, however views and opinions are as always, my own.

Groetjes, Manouk
